Sending messages through people............

Like we're in high school. Most of the security guards in this building are black. For a while now, I've figured out that one of them has a crush on me ( everytime I think of this, that Jets song plays in my mind.)

Yesterday the other black librarian on this floor(male,) announces, "Oh yeah, C said to tell you hello last week." My reaction was on pause. This is a grown azz man sending messages through someone else.

Co-worker, "You know he likes you."

Me: " Yeah, but did you tell him that it won't work?"

Co-worker: "That ain't my problem. Yaw need to work that out."

My co-worker and I have discussed this situation before. C is married with a child and rocks a gold band on that left finger so there is no mistake about his situation. He has not come out and said that he likes me, but he takes every opportunity to make small talk whenever he sees me.
(Read: makes a beeline to wherever I am or whatever direction I am walking)

I noticed him five months ago when I started this gig, but I also peeped the ring. My response to him has always been pleasant, but I also keep it moving. In no way shape or form am I trying to give this man the impression that his situation is okay with me.

I appreciate your restraint. Their are many...many women who could care less about a ring on a man's finger. Its obvious that this guy is trying honor is vows...or he would have stepped to you long ago. Fortunately the weakness of many men is bolsterd by the integrity of women like you.

I'm not trying to be a chick on the side or that work thing, it's just not me.

I think you're handling it very well. There is a married guy at my job who is very flirtatious. I hate it. I tried to minimize our conversations but he wouldn't let up with the flirting. So I dissed him in front of a group of people. He no longer speaks to me. I hated to take it there but he was giving me the creeps with the looks and the innuendo. Ewwww!

Thank you. I have tried the dissing in front of an audience, it didn't even faze him. He has brushed his shoulders off and does his little antics to get my attention whenever he sees me.

Young lady you just keep-a-steppin, this man is no good. If he is married and has no respect for his wife, he'll have none for you either.

Thanks. I'm still just saying hi and by and keeping it moving.

my girl friend and i were just talking about how bold married men are these days. i think it's cuz they got nothing to lose, unlike their single counter parts they have someone to go home to in the event their ego gets bruised trying to get a "new piece"

as a result i find them much more prone to try a little harder because after all they are playing with the houses money.

guys like that make me scared to get married i swear!

@Miss Ahmad,

Oh boy, do they try harder. Then we have the ones who wear the ring, as oppossed to those who don't.

I agree with you, this as a possiblity makes the reality of marriage scary.
